No matter what office job you work, you most likely have a work bag that has everything you need to make your work and day easier. However, you may have a bag now that has slowly been filled with junk or other things you don’t need.

What Every Man Should Carry In His Workbag

If you want a work bag that can do everything you may need in a day, then you have to fill it with the right things. Here is everything you should pack in your work bag every day.

Essentials

The first things you need are your essentials. Keys, wallet, vape juice if you vape, etc. If it is something that you need or use every day, it should be one of the first things to go into your bag.

Extra Phone & Laptop Charger

If you spend a lot of time on your phone and laptop, then it is essential that you have spare chargers for both that live in your bag. This means you can plug them in wherever you need them, and you will never be left with any flat batteries.

Battery Pack

Nowadays, you get several different types of battery packs that can do everything from charging your phone a few times to powering a laptop. If you spend a lot of time on the road or visiting clients, they are an incredibly convenient way to keep your devices charged throughout the day.

Headphones

Everyone should have a pair of headphones in their bag. Listening to music, podcasts, or something similar while you work is a great way to remain calm and focused and will allow you to be more productive throughout the day.

Hair Accessories

If you have a glorious head of hair, it is important that you have a few things available to help you maintain it. A comb and possibly a small tub of styling gel is often enough, as restyling may be necessary if you are out in bad weather or you want to look your best for a meeting.

Breath Spray or Gum/Deodorant

Speaking of meetings, the last thing you want to do is leave a bad impression the moment you meet. Bad breath and body odour are fairly common later in the day, but these two things can be easily prevented.

Keeping a small bottle of mouth freshener or pack of gum in your bag will ensure you always have minty fresh breath, and a bottle of deodorant is a must, especially if you are on the go constantly during warmer months.

Document Portfolio

At some point, you will have important documents that you will want to keep safe, and the last thing you want to do is just throw them in your bag and hope they stay safe. Instead, invest in a document portfolio.

These portfolios are designed to keep documents safe and free from damage, and they are particularly helpful if you are handling contracts, wills, etc.

Flash Drive/Memory Card

Nowadays, with much work being done and shared online, a spare memory card or flash drive is a must. They allow you to have large amounts of data accessible whenever needed, making data sharing so much easier.

Multitool

While not completely necessary, every bag should have a multitool in it. Multitools are famous for being incredibly versatile, and having one on hand means you can do small jobs that may pop up during your day, whether it be removing a splinter or cutting something up.

Water Bottle

Another work bag must is a water bottle. Many people still underestimate how much dehydration can affect performance, and having access to water throughout the day will keep you feeling refreshed and help with focus.

What to Look for When Choosing a Work Bag

When choosing a work bag, there are four aspects that you should pay particular attention to; its size, material, storage options, and built-in protection.

Size

The size of the bag you choose is dependent on your needs; however, the best option is something that is big enough to carry the things listed above but still small enough so that it is easy to carry or wear as a backpack.

Material

Material is an important aspect because you want something that is waterproof, rip-proof, and something that can last a long time. Nylon and leather are two of the best, as they can withstand the elements, and they also have the longevity you would want.

Storage

When it comes to storage, choose a bag that has several options. It should have a main pocket that can hold your laptop and document folder and then a few secondary pockets for your smaller pieces of gear.

Protection

Finally, you need to pay attention to the protection a bag can offer. A leather satchel, for example, doesn’t have much padding that would protect your laptop or phone if you dropped the bag, whereas some purpose-built laptop bags have firmer interior pockets that provide a cushion.

You also want to make sure you can lock the bag or at least attach a lock to the zippers. Bags are one of the easiest things to get into without you noticing if you’re a thief; therefore, you want to be able to protect yourself.
