Back to School Check List

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. Regardless, all opinions and experiences are 100% our own.

Being the father of four daughters, I fully understand the need for each girl to have their own things; specifically to fit their own style. When it comes to back to school shopping, that means letting them pick out their own school supplies.

Thankfully, Staples has plenty of supplies, in a variety of colors and designs. Each girl can pick out the items they need for the school year, and personalize their choices.

For example, our youngest often picks out fun characters or simply chooses things by color. Her favorite is red. The other girls each have their own favorites, whether it be a color or theme. This, of course, can change year to year; sometimes even month to month. Thankfully, Staples makes back-to-school shopping affordable.

Therefore, as we prepare for going back to school, the girls enjoy picking out new supplies to start the school year. As we walk the aisles of Staples and look at all the choices, we get the opportunity to have plenty of daddy-daughter bonding time.

Back to School - Staple Events

Once we get home, it’s time to get organized. Each of their school supplies for their independent studies go into backpacks. Other supplies, such as extra paper and sticky notes, are stored in their desks for pulling out later. We hang their backpacks in the mudroom and wait for school to start.

Since we homeschool, it’s then time to find curriculum, put together lesson plans, and plan out our school year. Of course, like most families, we also have to get our first day of school photos in. This typically means standing outside in our pajamas holding up fingers to represent grades. This has pretty much become our tradition.

What does back to school shopping look like for you? What is on your school check list? If you’re in the Dallas area, join us on Wednesday, August 8th, from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. at the Staples store located at 11700 Preston Road, for a fun back-to-school event with a local hometown hero and former football player, DeMarcus Ware! We can talk back-to-school and trade tips and tricks to get through the school year.

We can’t wait to see you there!

I’ve partnered with @TxDOT to remind you that all distractions – whether texting, eating, grooming, having a conversation, etc. – can be dangerous. #ad   That is why my family and I are also taking the AT&T It Can Wait pledge at http://www.ItCanWait.com/ to never drive distracted. As I get older and wiser as a dad of 5, I realize parenting is mostly about preparation. That is why I am proud to partner with @TxDOT on educating my daughters about distracted driving.    As a young guy, I found myself preparing to be a dad, or at least a good dad. Now I find myself preparing my children to be good people and safe drivers on the road. Jaci and I have been going over distracted driving prevention tips and having a little fun with the new web-based AR game – Dart Those Distractions. It helps promote safe driving in a fun way.   Check out the link in my bio to play. #HeadsUpTexas #EndTheStreakTX #ad
