Birthdays are Silly Around Our House

So today was Jaci’s ninth birthday. She has been looking forward to this day for some while now, and has been super excited. The excitement so built up, that sometimes the celebration carries on for a week. So leading up to her birthday day was looking for a way to be special for her.

Fun with your food

This year, since Halloween is right around the corner, We decided to make some Kellogg’s waffles into jack-o-lanterns. Jaci was wondering what I was doing, and laughing at me. I told her it was Okay to Have Fun with Your Food. And, as silly as it sounds, says the Dad that sends cereal for lunch, I think your not living right until you play with your food.

Halloween Waffles

She liked this one the best, all smiles!

So together on her special day we played at the table making different designs with fresh fruit and Eggo waffles. We had a blast, and was the best way to start the day. With a smile and breakfast.

And it All Begins with Breakfast

When you start with a nutritious breakfast, you’re refueling your body and brain, kick-starting your metabolism and getting the energy you need to embrace the morning.

Yet while many of us recognize the importance of breakfast and look for ways to make time for it in our daily routines, the realities of a hectic morning make it difficult to fit the meal in every day — a fact revealed in our recent Breakfast in America Survey.

I laid my dad to rest today. Although our relati I laid my dad to rest today.

Although our relationship has been strained over the past 14 years, he was still my dad.

He instilled values in me that I have carried into adulthood and continue to pass down to my family.

He showed me how to care for and appreciate my wife in such a way that she knows I love her.

He taught me life lessons that I have been able to teach my own children.

I wish we could have had a more meaningful relationship so that he (and my mom) could have experienced my life, my family, with me, but I’m grateful for the time we had.

He’ll always be my dad and that seems like enough right now.
