Reeses Trail Mix Made Easy at Walgreens

Get your bracket out and let the smash talking begin! It ‘s time for some college hoops. I cannot believe it is time for some college basketball tournament action again. Seems like just yesterday when my dad would bring home 2 copies of the newspaper so we could fill out our own NCAA Tournament Bracket. We would have so much fun making our picks and talking a little noise. Most of the time I had no clue who to pick… and that still stands true today. Back in the day, I would pull for the Kentucky Wildcats or the UNLV Rebels, but they have not been doing too hot recently. Plus, the only reason I would pick them is because my dad was from Kentucky and I always liked the UNLV mascot. Can you tell I put a lot of effort into my picks back then?

Cowboy Stadium

College Basketball

I actually have not been to any kind of college basketball game before. Therefore, I found it pretty cool that while Staci and I were on a tour of Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the field was being converted to a basketball court for two upcoming games: Kansas Jayhawks vs Michigan Wolverines and Florida Gators vs Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. That is about as close as I may ever get and I am actually okay with that. I think I would much rather watch the games from the comfort of my home on my own TV. This way I can yell at the screen all I want without anyone looking at me weird.

College Basketball

Walgreens

Considering I have been busy with family members traveling or simply taking kids to various events, I have not had much time to even prepare for the games. Luckily, I was able to grab a few quick party items at our local Walgreens. The convenience of the store made for a fast break to grab and go all the snacks we needed. Walgreens is only about five minutes from our house and is easy to get to. Most people may think Walgreens only handles prescriptions and photos, but in reality they offer a wide range of items for any occasion. Not to mention, when we go to Walgreens we are greeted by friendly sales associates who are ready and willing to help. All the aisles are clearly marked so it is easy to find the items we need quickly. Plus, the shelves are stocked full to make sure we have plenty to choose from in relation to variety.

College Basketball

As we walked the aisles we began finding an assortment of snacks that would be perfect for our #SnackMadness party. Our teens had invited a handful of friends over to watch the game and we needed snacks. We discovered that Walgreens has several different type of Reese’s products. We found chocolate in all sorts of flavors and sizes. There was even a large selection of nuts, pretzels, beef jerky, and other foods made for parties. Not to mention, Walgreens carries Coca Cola products in numerous sizes and we knew the teens would enjoy them as well. Armed with everything we needed to host a fun College Basketball Tournament party, we were on our way back home to watch the games!

Reese’s Trail Mix

Since we like to snack as we watch sports, we were able to find a treat made to pass around as we cheered. We wanted to whip up something sweet and easy with the items we picked up at Walgreens. Therefore, we decided to make a Reese’s Trail Mix.

Reeses Trail Mix

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Reese’s Puff Cereal
  • 1 ½ cups Life Cereal (or Chex Cereal)
  • ½ cup Reese’s Pieces
  • ½ cup Peanuts (we used Honey Roasted)
  • ½ cup Raisins
  • 1 cup Yogurt Covered Pretzels (broken)
  • 10 Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (we used the White Chocolate)

Directions:

  1. Break Yogurt Covered Pretzels in half before measuring.
  2. Unwrap Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.Reeses Trail Mix
  3. Add all ingredients to a bowl. Cover and shake to mix.
  4. Serve and enjoy!

Reeses Trail Mix

Super easy just as I mentioned! And you can find all of the products at Walgreens. We were even able to grab a set of bowls with lids to both make and store the train mix. Walgreens really did have everything we needed… even a basketball to add to our #SnackMadness party fun!

While I love being at live games, watching from the comfort of my home is my preference because the snacks and beverages are cheap, the company is usually good and I can say whatever I want to the television and it doesn’t talk back!

So, who knew that Reese’s had white chocolate mini peanut butter cups? Um, not me. But I totally need some now! Your trail mix looks tasty, too; the b-ball tourney might be over, but I think the mix would be great for baseball snacking or football tailgating, too!

Well… so much for my diet. This looks amazing! I’d say I’ll have to remember this, but honestly I don’t know how I’m going to forget it. Never would have thought about adding Reeses and never knew they had white chocolate peanut butter cups! Probably didn’t need to know this info either. .. DANGEROUS!

I laid my dad to rest today. Although our relati I laid my dad to rest today.

Although our relationship has been strained over the past 14 years, he was still my dad.

He instilled values in me that I have carried into adulthood and continue to pass down to my family.

He showed me how to care for and appreciate my wife in such a way that she knows I love her.

He taught me life lessons that I have been able to teach my own children.

I wish we could have had a more meaningful relationship so that he (and my mom) could have experienced my life, my family, with me, but I’m grateful for the time we had.

He’ll always be my dad and that seems like enough right now.
