How We Enjoy Summer BBQ in Texas

Discloser: This post has been sponsored by Conagra™ Brands, but opinions expressed are my own.

Like most Texans, we do enjoy our summer BBQs with family and friends. We can always find an excuse to fire up the grill and cook just about anything on it. Proteins are usually the main event: steaks, chops, burgers, dogs, and sloppy Joes.

Manwich Bourbon BBQ Sauce

Summer BBQ – Manwich – SlimJim

One of the newer sloppy Joe sauces that is a favorite is the Manwich Bourbon BBQ sauce. It is boldly tangy and sweet, it can be cooked with chicken or pork. While the steaks are grilling, just toss some ground beef, chicken or pork in a skillet, add the sauce and heat it up over the coals or on the stovetop. I like to serve sloppy Joes in slider buns that everyone can just walk around with wrapped in a napkin. The kids really like these a lot. And, the sauce is only 35 calories per serving!

While the grill is doing its job I also like to keep some Slim Jim Premium Smoked Sticks on hand for those who are “starving”. The Premium Sticks are made from grass-fed 100% beef or 100% premium pork, raised without hormones, and with no artificial colors, flavors, or added MSG. Slim Jim Premium Sticks are slow-cooked for over 14 hours and seasoned with a blend of herbs, spices, and peppers. The Original flavor might be my favorite, as it brings back memories of having Slim Jims as a snack to hold me over until dinner was ready when I was a kid. The Spicy Chili and Garlic is another I want to try.

Right now is a good time to stock up on Manwich Sloppy Joe Sauce and Slim Jim Premium Smoked Sticks from Kroger and its affiliate stores.

Slom Jim Premium Beef Sticks

You can download a digital coupon for 1 can of Manwich Bourbon BBQ Sloppy Joe Sauce for $.50 and a coupon for saving $2.00 on Slim Jim Premium sticks. The offer is good through August 18, 2018.

What is your go-to meal or snack this summer? Leave me a comment and lets talk about it.

I’m always looking for a good excuse to throw a big party, and an end of summer BBQ is a great reason! It is also a good time to bring together a number of recipes that I’ve created throughout the summer and offer a up a few tips and suggestions on how to entertain a large number of people.

I laid my dad to rest today. Although our relati I laid my dad to rest today.

Although our relationship has been strained over the past 14 years, he was still my dad.

He instilled values in me that I have carried into adulthood and continue to pass down to my family.

He showed me how to care for and appreciate my wife in such a way that she knows I love her.

He taught me life lessons that I have been able to teach my own children.

I wish we could have had a more meaningful relationship so that he (and my mom) could have experienced my life, my family, with me, but I’m grateful for the time we had.

He’ll always be my dad and that seems like enough right now.
