Our kitchen is more than a place to prepare meals. We gather in there for so much more. We like to think of it as both a social hub and a teaching lab for both recipe trials and science projects. That means our cooking surface sometimes takes the brunt of some of our mishaps and spills.
How I Keep My Kitchen Clean
We use recipes to help our kids learn about the importance of measuring and proportions. It’s as much math and science as it is about making something delicious. It’s also about teaching safety associated with heat and sharp objects. We have to take a step back and allow the kids to get in there and learn by doing it themselves.
As you might imagine, there are many times when a burner is a little too high and a pot boils over, or a measuring cup topples and the cooktop is covered in something like beaten eggs that cook or dry out on the surface, leaving a crispy residue.
Even though we like to have fun creating things, we also like to teach the kids about the importance of cleaning up our messes. That is why I got pretty excited about the affresh® Cooktop Cleaning Wipes. These are a snap for even the kids to use.
The wipes work on both glass and ceramic cooktops. The dual-sided feature is great. We use the textured side to scrub away the spills that have hardened. Then, the smooth side wipes away the cleaner and polishes the surface to a streak-free finish. After that, we just wipe with a soft, dry cloth. The wipe gets tossed in the garbage and the bag is resealed to keep the other wipes fresh.
We do like a clean home, which can be tough to manage with kids that are homeschooled. Affresh® products make it a little easier for us to stay on top of our cleaning regimen.
