The 2023 Toyota Camry is definitely a midsize sedan worth considering for a family. There are several trim packages to choose from. We recently had the opportunity to drive the Camry XLE and it suited us well.
This car can easily accommodate 5 people and has all the tech and safety features we needed at a really good price point. The XLE is a mid-level Camry trim package with plenty of available options. The Camry has been one of Toyota’s most popular and reliable cars for decades and here are the reasons we like this car for a family.
Interior and Cargo Space
The interior of the 2023 Camry is just roomy enough for 5 with front-row bucket seats with ample leg and headroom and a continuous 2nd-row seat big enough for 3. There’s also a tether anchor for the rear middle seat that is ideal for securing a child’s car seat. The trunk of the Camry is 15.1 cubic feet which is just enough space for a family grocery run or luggage for a weekend away.
Performance and Fuel Economy
The 2023 Camry’s standard engine is a 4-cylinder with 203 horsepower. The XLE is available with a feisty V6 301 horsepower upgrade. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 4-cylinder, front-wheel-drive model will get you 28 MPG city and 39 MPG highway. The all-wheel-drive and V6 versions are closer to 23 MPG city and 33 MPG highway. The hybrid really impressed us with 44 MPG city and 47 MPG highway.
Infotainment and Connectivity
With kids, especially ones who drive, it is important to have the ability to stay connected. The Camry offers an easy-to-use infotainment system with a quick response 7-inch touch screen as well as steering wheel buttons. The system includes Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and USB ports. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and a 6-speaker stereo.
Safety
Safety features are always necessary when it comes to our family and the 2023 Camry XLE does not fall short in this area. There is a standard suite that includes:
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Lane Departure Warning
- Pedestrian Detection
- Rearview Camera
- Rear Seat Alert
- Automatic High-Beam Headlights
Bottom Line
The 2023 Toyota Camry XLE didn’t disappoint. The interior space is comfortable and it has all the features we have come to expect from a fairly basic family car. There is a reason the Camry brand has been going strong since 1983.
The XLE isn’t the top-of-the-line Camry model, but it does come with plenty of available upgrades and options, including the tricked-out nightshade with bold colors and signature black wheels.
The XLE starts at just $33,000. You can find out more by visiting Toyota.com.
