More About the S-Tronic
As part of the Audi A3 review, the S-Tronic is front and center. The S-Tronic shifter offers both automatic and manual modes. The steering wheel-mounted shift paddles allow driver input for quick gearbox response.
The dual-clutch gearbox enables rapid shifting with barely any noticeable interruption in the flow of power. The acceleration is smooth and dynamic.
Another distinctive feature of the 7-speed S-Tronic shifting system is that it has 2 separate oil systems. The dual-clutch, mechatronics module and the oil pump are on one circuit while the gear sets, center, and front axle differential are on another lubricating system. This ensures that oil use is efficient and optimal for the different system components.
