Halloween is around the corner. While you might dread the spooky season, your kids are champing at the bit to get into the fun part: costumes, candy and decorations.

Orange Pumpkin Beside the Glass Window

For the little ones, it’s exciting and entertaining. For Mom and Dad, it’s another event to pull out all the stops and make it a day to remember. Talk about pressure!

If you’re fresh out of ideas and the only thing keeping you from going out of your mind is that fresh pot of coffee, we’ve got you covered.

#1. Wicked Wreath

With the highly anticipated release of Wicked in movie theaters, it’s only fitting you give a nod to the Broadway musical. From H&M to Lego, film producers collaborated with almost every big brand to promote the remake.

Country Living has a genius DIY idea for a door wreath. Forgo the traditional garland wreath and add your spin on the Wicked theme. All you’ll need is a hammer and nail, a bow made from sturdy fabric and an old pair of vintage boots.

Hammer the nail into your front door and hang the boots by their laces on the nail. Complete the look by securing the bow above the nail with double-sided tape.

#2. Artful Chalkboard

The kids will love this game. Think of it as Guess Who but the Halloween version. Mount a chalkboard against a wall in the hallway.

Every morning, each family member must write a clue about their favorite horror movie until someone gets it right. To make things more interesting, everyone can pick their color and use chalk markers to write their clues.

Here’s the interesting part. You’re not allowed to use your handwriting. So go wild and write your clues in the zaniest, out of control writing you can come up with. That way, it will be harder for the others to guess who wrote what.

Instead of using words let your creativity flow and draw pictures or doodles to keep the rest guessing.

Chalk markers come in an assortment of colors and themed packs. From liquid chalk markers to chalk pens, you can let your imagination run wild.

And it’s not only chalkboards; non-porous surfaces will do. Plastic, metal, glass and vinyl are blank canvases ready for the taking, says Loddie Doddie. Wiping them off is as easy as taking a damp cloth or paper towel.

#3. Mason Jar Night Lights

You’re probably waiting for the right time to bring out those mason jars that have been gathering dust in the basement. Well, now you can!

Place Halloween-themed vinyl stickers on the jars and spray paint the outside of the jar with a color of your choice. Once dry, peel the sticker from the jar. Place a votive candle in the jar and light it up.

Line up the front porch with the night lights. The faint glow of the lights gives off spooky vibes. What brave soul will ring the bell and ask for a trick or treat (laughs in witch’s cackle)?

#4. My Stanley Cup Overfloweth

It was only a matter of time until someone somewhere came up with a Stanley Tumbler Halloween costume idea.

The Stanley Adventure Quencher Travel Tumbler is the latest product from the range to take the internet by storm.

According to Today, the tumbler is sold out within hours of restocking. Videos of customers standing in long lines went viral, with one saying they waited overnight just to get their hands on the coveted cup.

If you’re just as confused about the hype surrounding the cup, how about having a cheeky go at it?

Here’s what you do. Download a Stanley thermos image online and have it printed on 48-inch-wide by 36-inch-roll poster paper, suggests Country Living.

Wrap yourself in the paper “sleeve” and secure it with tape. Punch two holes at the top and thread ribbon through it so you can tie it like an apron. Don’t forget your Stanley logo on the front and the required tumbler. How’s that for product placement?

#5. Pumpkin Bird Feeder

Every year you’re left with the same conundrum; what to do with the leftover pumpkins? It’s a waste throwing them into the trash.

A pumpkin bird feeder is a great way of reducing waste. If the pumpkin is hollowed out, pour in some bird feed and make a few holes in the sides to insert twigs for bird perches.

Place the feeder in a shaded part of the garden and watch your winged visitors feast on the treat.

Every year when Halloween comes along, there’s always that anxiety-riddled feeling. Is there enough candy for the neighborhood kids? Are the decorations scary? What have I left out?

Thankfully, the above ideas are easy on your pocket and your nerves. Get the whole family involved to take the pressure off yourself. It will be an enjoyable, fun experience for all.

Happy Halloween!
