4 Pro Tips for Self-Care During Quarantine

Quarantine hasn’t been easy on any of us. Whether you’re dealing with financial stress or emotional and mental stress, it’s likely taking a toll on you. But finding ways to practice self-care during quarantine can help you cope with everything that’s going on in healthy ways.

That might mean researching healthy recipes and doing meal prep, find quality healthcare coverage, or taking care of your mental health. Take a look at our four pro tips for self-care during the quarantine.

1. Research Healthy Recipes

Researching healthy recipes allows you to enjoy new dishes while maintaining your health. Go online and search for healthy recipes, buy a cookbook, or download an app that allows you to search for healthy recipes. If you’re looking online, try AllRecipes, Food Network, or Eating Well. You can also try apps like Mealtime, SuperFood-Health Recipes, or Tasty, which are all available on the Google Play store and the App Store. Start collecting recipes so you always have something to make and you have no room for excuses when it comes to preparing and eating healthy foods during the quarantine.

2. Do Some Meal Planning

Once you have a few recipes in mind that you want to make for you and your family, you can start doing some meal planning for the week. That means going to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients you need and prepping ahead of time so that when the day comes to make each meal, you won’t have to do much. Start shopping for ingredients on Saturday night and then do the actual meal prepping for the week on Sunday. Prepare your ingredients by chopping them up and storing them in an appropriate place until you need them, such as the refrigerator, freezer, or wherever they need to be stored.

3. Enroll in Medicare

Another way to ensure you’re well taken care of during quarantine is by enrolling in a quality health insurance plan. Taking care of your physical health is extremely important, especially during these uncertain times. Getting the right amount of coverage for optimum overall health can help you maintain it throughout the entirety of the quarantine lockdown. That means maintaining your dental health, vision health, and hearing health as well as getting preventive care. If you qualify, Medicare dental coverage is just the supplemental coverage you need to improve and maintain your oral health. Dental coverage can be added onto your existing Medicare plan so start looking for supplemental dental packages you can afford.

4. Take Care of Your Mental Health

Being in quarantine for months has likely taken a toll on your mental health and well being, which is why you should seriously consider investing in things that can improve your mental health. Being in quarantine can cause you to feel:

  • Insomnia
  • Depressed
  • Stressed
  • Sadness
  • Irritability
  • Fear
  • Post-traumatic stress symptoms
  • Anger

That’s why it’s important that you find ways to boost your mood. Just some things you can do to help with mental health include establishing a routine, trying to stay as active as possible, staying in touch with family and friends, and finding activities to combat boredom, like watching your favorite shows, listening to your favorite songs, and playing games.

Coping in Quarantine

Being in quarantine doesn’t have to take a toll on your physical and mental health if you don’t let it. Now that you’ve got a few ideas for how to take better care of yourself during quarantine, you can start investing in the things that’ll make it possible.

I’ve partnered with @TxDOT to remind you that all distractions – whether texting, eating, grooming, having a conversation, etc. – can be dangerous. #ad   That is why my family and I are also taking the AT&T It Can Wait pledge at http://www.ItCanWait.com/ to never drive distracted. As I get older and wiser as a dad of 5, I realize parenting is mostly about preparation. That is why I am proud to partner with @TxDOT on educating my daughters about distracted driving.    As a young guy, I found myself preparing to be a dad, or at least a good dad. Now I find myself preparing my children to be good people and safe drivers on the road. Jaci and I have been going over distracted driving prevention tips and having a little fun with the new web-based AR game – Dart Those Distractions. It helps promote safe driving in a fun way.   Check out the link in my bio to play. #HeadsUpTexas #EndTheStreakTX #ad
