Alright guys with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I wanted to give you some ideas on a budget to do with your special someone.
Romantic Valentines’s Day Ideas
There have been many times when Staci and I would simply run out to our favorite restaurant and then straight back home to the kids. Finally, we decided to shake it up a bit with some new ideas and try something different.
5 Easy Date Nights on a Budget
Stargaze
This is one of our most favorite pastimes. It has been ever since we dated all those years ago. It doesn’t take much to just lie in the grass next to each other looking up at the stars. A night of stargazing requires nothing more than a clear sky, plenty of stars, and the patience to watch the twinkling balls of gas overhead.
Geocache
Have you heard the term “Geocache” yet? It is a fun, strategical game of sorts that can be a lot of fun during the day or at night. Geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunting game using a GPS-enabled device to find the hidden geocache (container). You can download a free app and only need time, perhaps a bit of gas, and a flashlight if you are headed out after dark. Oh, and any caches you may want to add to the hunt.
Take a Drive
Even with the gas prices up, you can still get out and escape for a little bit. Even if it is only going to another neighborhood and just driving through, it is still the time alone that is beneficial. We often count a drive to the gas station for a cup of coffee and splash of gas in the car as a date. It is all about perspective and what you make of it. A lot can happen or be said in that short drive to the gas station or around town. Enjoy the time alone.
Go Retro
If you can, take it back a few years. Try roller skating or head to a drive-in movie theater. Perhaps go to both. Mix it up a bit and do something totally out of your normal realm. Don’t hold back and you might be surprised at how much you enjoy those childhood activities once again, as adults.
Movie Night
Can’t get out of the house? No problem. Have a movie night at home. Put the kids to bed and enjoy. With movie rentals as low as $1.00 or lower with a free rental code from RedBox, simply rent a movie or find one on TV, grab a blanket, some popcorn and drinks, and then snuggle together on the couch or in bed. There is no need to worry about gas, a babysitter, or even a good seat at the theater… you have all the comforts of home.
Valentine’s Day is supposed to be that one “extra” special day of the year to show our significant other how much we love them. Show your special someone that you took the time to prepare a little something for them. Take the time to do some planning. Even if you are able to splurge a little on dinner do something a little different afterward. You never know, it could make a world of difference in their eyes.
Do you have Valentine’s Day plans? What is your best budget-friendly date idea?
