A family vacation doesn’t have to be about heading to a single resort and relaxing there. Why not travel through a part of the country and experience all of the things that are offered there? In particular, the East Coast is great tie this. There’s a mix of great cities and fantastic coastal locations for your family to explore and enjoy.

Perfect Family Trip Through East Coast America

It’s the ideal way to spend a family holiday together. If you’re wondering how you can plan this out properly and make the most of your time exploring the East Coast, you’ve certainly come to the right place. We’re going to discuss the things you need to do and the things you won’t want to miss out on during your family trip, so read on to find out more.

Make Exploring NYC Fun

New York City is a pretty huge place and this can make it daunting to explore when you’re with the family. The trick is to break it down into a few key places and spend time enjoying those. Times Square is great for the whole family and there’s even a big Disney store there too. There are also some of the best and most family-friendly museums in the world that can be found in NYC. The American Museum of Natural History is certainly one of the best examples of that.

Visit Acadia National Park in Maine

Acadia National Park is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes you’ll find anywhere on the east of America. If you’re looking for somewhere to walk and explore nature with the whole family and you find yourselves in Maine, you won’t find anywhere better than Acadia National Park. It’s a joy to behold and you’ll love making your way around it and enjoying everything it has to offer.

Plan Activities in Each City and Location Ahead of Time

If you’re going to visit numerous cities, you might not have a lot of time in each place. That’s why it’s so important to plan ahead and decide as far in advance as possible what you’re going to spend your limited time on in each place you visit. This list of the 55 best things to do by The Crazy Tourist will help you make the most of your time in Washington DC if you’re currently struggling for ideas. And there are plenty of guides out there for other cities and locations in the East.

Relax on the Coastal Towns Such as Jersey Shore

If you’re looking for some classic coastal towns during your time on this trip, you should head to places like Jersey Shore. It might have spawned a terrible TV show, but it has a lot more to offer than that. The coastal town has some great independent shops, cafes and restaurants that are ideal for families. And coastline itself is, of course, simply beautiful and not to be missed.

Spend Time on the Beaches of Delaware

If you’re looking for a part of the trip that allows you to relax on the beach while the kids paddle in the sea and play in the sand, you definitely need to head over to Delaware. When you travel with the family, it makes sense to have at least one day on the beach and the beaches of Delaware are easily the best you’ll find anywhere on the East Coast of America. Some people might argue with me about that, but you certainly won’t be disappointed.

Venture Down to Florida

If you want to head south, it makes sense to head down to Florida and explore some of the places in this incredible state. Of course, we all know about Miami and its beaches. But there’s so much more to Florida than Miami and theme parks, not that there’s anything wrong with either of those things.

Don’t Overload Your Trip Schedule

One tip that you’ll need to keep in mind as you move through this whole planning process is not overloading the trip and your schedule with too much stuff. As you’ve already seen, there’s no shortage of things to do as you travel around the East. But if you pack too many things into your trip, you’ll tire out your family and overwhelm everyone. And that won’t result in the most enjoyable trip for your family.

If you’re going to make the most of your trip through East Coast America, it pays off to plan ahead and think about how you’re all going to get the most out of the experience. The tips and ideas discussed above will help you put in place the plans for a trip that you and your family will remember fondly for a long time to come.

As I get older and wiser as a dad of 5, I realize parenting is mostly about preparation. That is why I am proud to partner with @TxDOT on educating my daughters about distracted driving.    As a young guy, I found myself preparing to be a dad, or at least a good dad. Now I find myself preparing my children to be good people and safe drivers on the road. Jaci and I have been going over distracted driving prevention tips and having a little fun with the new web-based AR game – Dart Those Distractions. It helps promote safe driving in a fun way.   Check out the link in my bio to play. #HeadsUpTexas #EndTheStreakTX #ad
