Our family took a camping trip recently where we needed to tow our 7,000-pound travel trailer with all of our gear. We chose to take a 2022 Toyota Tundra truck to haul the trailer. But that’s not all this truck has to offer.
Dynamic Exterior Design
I can’t say I totally love the rugged and boxy look of the Tundra 1794 Edition for our family. I can see where that would be appealing for someone using this as a daily utility truck. The high-strength steel-ladder frame offers enhanced rigidity to the body and improved towing capability and interior comfort.
The available active front splitter adapts to driving conditions to provide maximum airflow for improved efficiency. Lightweight aluminum panels are used throughout the body to also increase driving efficiency.
High-performance LED headlights give the Tundra a distinctive and striking front-end appearance. The TRD Sport upgrade offers 20-inch matte black alloy wheels.
Available power-extending tow mirrors make it a breeze to safely monitor whatever you are towing while utilizing the Trailer Backup Guide with Straight Path Assist.
Tundra’s generous cargo bed is designed with an available deck rail system so you can strap down bikes and any other gear so it doesn’t bounce around over rough terrain. A tailgate release bump switch makes loading and unloading the bed a snap.
Comfortable and Stylish Interior
While the exterior is rugged, the interior cabin is first-class. Tundra’s roomy interior includes available leather-trimmed and soft-touch materials throughout.
The 1794 Edition has real walnut accents, adding warmth you wouldn’t normally expect from a truck.
Tundra’s panoramic moonroof opens with the touch of a button to allow for natural daylight and to expand the feeling of the cabin. Climate-controlled seats allow you to cool down in the hot Texas sun or warm up when climbing into the cooler hills.
Technology
It goes without saying that the 2022 Toyota Tundra has all the state-of-the-art safety features that you come to expect from Toyota. It also has some impressive infotainment and connectivity features.
This truck is equipped with the Human Machine Interface (HMI) system with a 14-inch audio and multi-media touchscreen that works with sight, touch, and voice activation.
The 1200-watt, 12-speaker JBL Premium Audio system is designed with surround-sound technology for an exceptional audio experience. The truck is also outfitted with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Upgrades Available
Tundra 1794
The Tundra 1794 Edition is a truly great truck to drive in terms of utility, comfort, and technology.
This truck can be customized to the advanced package that includes upgrades like Load-Leveling Rear Height Air Suspension. Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) for changing terrain conditions, and a 10-inch color Head-Up Display that shows vital vehicle and navigation information just above the dashboard on the windshield for easy driver viewing.
2022 Toyota Tundra – Capstone
The new flagship of the Tundra lineup seamlessly crafts together premium, plush and power into an exceptionally loaded package. Eyes will certainly be drawn to the largest wheels ever offered on Tundra thanks to the standard 22-inch chrome rims.
At its ruggedly handsome front, Capstone’s unique grille features a color-keyed outer frame and a chrome inner mesh pattern complemented with subtle-yet-eye-catching chrome mirror caps, chrome “TUNDRA” tailgate inserts and chrome trim accents.
Automatic running boards welcome everyone into the premium cabin experience that is no doubt highlighted by standard semi-aniline leather-trimmed seats. Not only are the seats luxury-grade, but they also tout stylish perforation and a Capstone-only black-and-white color combination.
The center console and passenger-side dash are accented with authentic Dark American Walnut with an open-pore finish that highlights the wood grain. On the dash the Walnut inlay surrounds a Capstone logo which illuminates when the doors are opened.
Speaking of letting a little light in, a panoramic moonroof is standard on Tundra Capstone. To help provide an even quieter cabin, Capstone is the only Tundra grade to feature acoustic glass on the front doors for more exterior sound deadening.
Drivers will appreciate the leather-trimmed heated steering wheel and large 12.3-inch digital Multi-Informational Display. The standard 10-inch color Head-Up Display provides an option that drivers can keep eyes in line with the road ahead.
Toyota Capstone 14 Inch Multimedia
The large, 14-inch multimedia touchscreen display comes standard on Capstone. Controlling the all-new Toyota Audio Multimedia system designed and engineered by Toyota’s Texas-based Connected Technologies team.
The new system offers an improved user experience thanks to new sight, touch and voice activation. With Intelligent Assistant available through Drive Connect*, simple phrases like “Hey Toyota” awakens the system for voice-activated commands to search for directions, find Places of Interest (POI). Adjust audio controls, change the cabin temperatures and more.
The cloud-based native navigation system, aptly named Cloud Navigation, offered through Drive Connect allows for real-time Over the Air updates for mapping and POI, and Google POI data is integrated to ensure up-to-date search capability.
The new system also supports standard wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility.
