Changi Airport has grown and developed so much that it’s no longer just a place for traveling in and out of Singapore. Now, it counts as its own tourist destination, and has even recently reclaimed its rightful title as World’s Best Airport in 2025.
In particular, Changi Airport’s various nature attractions count among the reasons Singapore is known fondly as the Garden City. You’ll be able to admire the different exotic plants and flora the country has to offer right in the airport. If you’re a nature lover wanting to see more of the country’s beautiful greenery, here are some Changi Airport attractions that will capture your heart:
The Canopy Park is the perfect place for young nature lovers, where they can admire the beautiful plant life all around and play in all the unique attractions. It is located on the topmost level of Jewel Changi Airport, the nature-themed entertainment complex linked directly to one of the passenger terminals of Changi Airport.
Essentially, the Canopy Park is a large indoor playground that features four key sights. Look at the gorgeous views while zooming through the Discovery Slides, let your kids hide within the mists of the Foggy Bowls, gaze in wonder at the topiary animals you can find in Topiary Walk, and bask in the beauty of flowers from all over the world in the Petal Garden. Whichever attraction you decide to try, you’ll find that visiting the Canopy Park is one of the best ways to enjoy Singaporean nature.
Want something with a little more adventure? The Hedge Maze is also located on the fifth level of Jewel and is the largest hedge maze in Singapore. Navigating your way through the maze is an exciting way to spend time with your loved ones while in Changi Airport, requiring teamwork and planning to get to the watchtower at the maze’s core.
Once you’ve reached the tower, you can rest and enjoy the view of the entire maze from up above. As a bonus, a ticket to the Hedge Maze will also give you access to the Canopy Park and everything there.
The Forest Valley includes two beautiful trails that you can follow along as it leads you from the first level of Jewel all the way to the fourth. Each trail offers beautifully crafted landscapes, including over 900 trees and 60,000 shrubs, framed by the natural sunlight beaming from the glass ceilings of the complex.
You can take the eastern trail to check out the cascading waterfalls, and the western trail if you want to experience the mist clouds that will turn your trek into a magical experience. And all the while, you’ll have many chances to admire the Jewel Rain Vortex, the tallest indoor waterfall at the heart of the Forest Valley. Upon reaching the end of the trail, consider going on the other trail or moving forward to the fifth level of Jewel, where you can find the aforementioned Canopy Park and Hedge Maze.
Outside of Jewel but still within the confines of Changi Airport is the Sunflower Garden, located in the third level of Terminal 2. Be one with the thousands of sunflowers soaking up the sun and enjoy the rooftop view of the runway and aircraft parking bays.
At night, a special lighting display is turned on, changing the landscape of the Sunflower Garden to something truly magical and once-in-a-lifetime. For anyone who loves the bright yellow blooms, this garden is certainly a must-see.
The Butterfly Garden in Changi Airport is actually the first of its kind in the entire world. Found in Transit Levels 2 and 3 in Terminal 3, this garden houses over 1,000 butterflies of over 40 different species across the different seasons. It also boasts beautiful plants with nectar that serves as the butterflies’ food, such as the red powderpuff plant, the Egyptian star cluster, and the Indian holly.
If you want to take a closer look at how the butterflies live their lives in the garden, there are individual enclosures and educational corners that you can visit. To top it all off, there’s also a grotto waterfall that’s over six metres tall, completing the serene atmosphere found in the Butterfly Garden.
