A Recap and Look Forward at My Blog

Recap and Look Forward

It’s only been a short time since I embarked on this blog thing. Simply ” The Blog” my wife calls it. Just one short month ago I started writing and posting pictures. It has been both fun and exciting to experience. And as I ponder the last 30 days, I want to recap and look forward as I move ahead in this adventure.

Surprisingly enough, things are going really well. But with Staci’s help in this it should be good. I have planned to post every Wednesday for Wordless Wednesday as well as a Throwback Thursday post each week. The Wordless Wednesday post includes a photo or two with a short commentary about the picture (which I would guess is optional since it is supposed to be “wordless”).  My Throwback Thursday blog posts are for me to reflect on “back in the day” and relive a little goodness from when I was younger… and share it.

Look Forward

Corporate America

It has been a little while since I was let go from my previous employer in Corporate America. People say change is good and in this case I would have to agree. This time away from the daily grind has given me time to reflect on who I am and what I need to do different in my life. Basically, as a whole, getting laid off has worked out for both me and my family. I am now able to meet my girls at the bus stop or go to their school functions or parties. I can be here on the days when our youngest needs her therapy and help love on her daily. One thing that I have never done was take one of my kiddos to the doctor by myself without the wife. This past Monday I was able to do that for the first time when our teenage daughter got sick with strep throat. So I am enjoying being at home now… and that is a good thing.

Dad 2.0

Dad 2.0 Summit

I am registered to go to the Dad 2.o Summit in Houston Texas later this month.

The Dad 2.0 Summit is an open conversation about the commercial power of dads online, as well as an opportunity to learn the tools and tactics used by influential bloggers to create high-quality content, build personal brands, and develop business ideas.

We are planning to go and stay with a blogger friend of my wife’s and her family for the weekend. We are really looking forward to it and know we will have a blast.  Also, I will be able to connect with other Dad Bloggers as well as brands looking to reach out to us for a man’s perspective.

Goals to Work on

  • Post more about what I am doing with my kids
  • Take more pictures to share
  • Engage with more followers and other bloggers
  • Grow, Grow and Grow some more

I really do appreciate each of you… my readers… and promise to attempt to become a blogger you will enjoy reading.

Thank you,

Colby

I laid my dad to rest today. Although our relati I laid my dad to rest today.

Although our relationship has been strained over the past 14 years, he was still my dad.

He instilled values in me that I have carried into adulthood and continue to pass down to my family.

He showed me how to care for and appreciate my wife in such a way that she knows I love her.

He taught me life lessons that I have been able to teach my own children.

I wish we could have had a more meaningful relationship so that he (and my mom) could have experienced my life, my family, with me, but I’m grateful for the time we had.

He’ll always be my dad and that seems like enough right now.
