We got to check out the newest 2018 Volkswagen Golf GTI model recently. This is more than your typical compact family car or car for a grad. This car is roomy and has some power. It also has the technology and safety features we are always looking for. Here are some of the assets we liked best about our experience with the VW Golf GTI.

Volkswagen Golf GTI – Performance

The turbocharged 2.0L TSI® engine is standard. It’s a fast car with a 220-hp engine. The car is available with a torque-sensing limited-slip differential, and high-performance front and rear brakes. With the DCC/Driving Mode selector you can change the way the car performs and adjust how the car responds on the road. The autobahn-tuned sport suspension of the GTI enables the car to stay level around corners and helps maintain grip to provide a smoother ride.

GTI – Design

This car has a sporty and streamlined look for a hatchback. It comes with flashy 18”alloy wheels as well as LED headlamps and daytime running lights. The two front seats are bucket style. You have the option for plaid cloth or leather seats on the interior. We liked the plaid a lot. The center dash has a large touch screen for easy navigation. The rear hatchback cargo area is spacious.

Fender® Premium Audio

The GTI has a Fender® premium audio system with 400 watts of power, eight speakers, and a subwoofer that is great for rocking some streamed tunes. The VW Car-Net App-Connect allows you to connect your Smartphone with Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, or MirrorLink® to access your favorite apps on the touch screen display. A rear view camera system helps to see obstacles when backing up.

Volkswagen Golf GTI – Safety

The Intelligent Crash Response System36(ICRS) does a lot in the event of a collision: deploys the airbags, turns off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors, and activates the hazard lights. Other standard safety features include: Automatic Post-collision Braking System, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and seven stability-enhancing systems.

We pretty much liked everything about the compact VW Golf GTI, including the sporty metallic color options for the exterior and the fuel efficiency of 25 mpg/city & 33mpg/hwy. It is a perfect car for a college student to get to and from campus. And, it can easily fit 5 of us with space for our gear in the rear hatch. Check out the new Volkswagen Golf GTI here.
