Level Up Your Parenting Game with the Honda Odyssey Elite

Auto Disclosure

The new Honda Odyssey Elite is a minivan that is actually fun to drive. The ride is extremely smooth and comfortable. And, the dashboard is so well designed and easy to use, featuring an 8 inch display audio touch screen.

Interior

The interior of a minivan is what really counts when you have children to get places or to make comfortable on long road trips. For instance, the seats are well padded and offer generous leg room. The second row seats can be unlatched and lifted out for more hauling or luggage space. These also have a Magic Slide feature allowing for sliding side-to-side and front-to-back. A third seat can be secured in the middle. Both second row seats can be pushed to one side of the vehicle to allow for easier access to the third row seats. And, the center seat can be moved forward to allow better access to a young child for the parents sitting up front.

For the driver and front seat passenger, both seats are heated and ventilated. The steering wheel is also heated. The three zone climate control is a great feature.

The premium audio system has 11 speakers. The Odyssey’s entertainment system has the ability to play Blu-Ray discs or stream content via 4G LTE. And, there is a wireless phone charger.

According to Honda specifications attention has been paid to better sound deadening to provide for a much quieter ride with less outside noise.

Safety and Performance of the Honda Odyssey

I can keep an eye the kids with the CabinWatch™ rear seat camera that works day or night with an infrared night vision mode. The optional CabinTalk™ feature allows the driver to speak clearly to the kids in the back seats without turning around.

There is the ability for passengers to input navigation points, which helps me out as the driver for obvious safety reasons. The ambient lighting is a plus for this when driving at night. The rain sensing wiper system is perfect for those unexpected showers.

The Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) automatically adjusts the steering should you stray over the center lane without signaling. The Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM) uses a small camera to see the road and alert you if the car is about to leave the road. The Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) helps brake the vehicle when it senses a potential collision with the vehicle in front of you.

These are all great safety features if I get distracted.

The Odyssey has undergone some small changes that make a difference in fuel economy. The engine is a 3.5-liter V6 with direct fuel injection. This adds 32 horsepower and 12 lb-ft of torque to the prior year’s model.

Exterior

The hood on the new Odyssey is uniquely sculpted to stand out from the competition. The side panels are also pretty sleek. There is a great selection of colors to choose from.

The wheels are 19-inch alloys fitted with 235/55 R19 all-season tires. These are pretty big wheels, which helps with the handling of the car over rougher terrain.

Voted Best Family Car in the World by Kelley Blue Book.

The hands free operation of the rear lift door is extremely convenient.

Bottom Line on the Honda Odyssey

The Honda Odyssey Elite is the perfect combination of utility and comfort for a family of any size. The styling is handsome and it has all the features that we need to ensure a safe and high-tech road trip for both the driver and the passengers. While the Elite is a premium minivan, it is still quite well priced.
