4 Essential Car Care Needs When Cleaning Up for a Road Trip

I spruced up my car using Armor All products from Walmart, as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #WalmartAuto

This year we have been busier than normal in town and out. So this Summer is no exception. We have already taken a few road trips down to Houston and Austin. I know that later this year we are making a trek across the desert to Phoenix, which will be interesting. Luckily our kiddos enjoy road trips, to a certain extent. I think it is something about slowly visiting America. It’s nice to get out of the bubble we call home and see the other areas of our nation. But, along with all the “truck stop” pit stops and scenic sites comes dirt and road grim.

My wife considers me to be a neat freak around the house. Which is wrong, I just think everything has its place and needs to stay there. Anyways, I try to extend the same type of care towards our vehicles. If you have taken an extensive road trip before then you would know what I a talking about. You have bugs on the windshield, or tar/oil on the headlights. Better yet, the pile of food wrappers or crumbs in the back seat, because Lord knows you can’t grab your trash when you get out of the car. Sorry, pet peeve. So this week, the girls and I are cleaning up and cleaning out the car for our next upcoming road trip.

Car Care

Cleaning Up for a Road

For as long as I can remember I have used Armor All products, thanks to my Dad. I can remember helping my Dad every Saturday clean up the two cars we had. I would take pride in my Armor All job. We had a process, of cleaning and polishing. For me, I owned the interior of the car, as my Dad would tackle the exterior. Now I kind of do the same thing. The Girls and I make a trip to our local Walmart Auto Center to grab the goods we need. We can normally find everything and more. We grab towels, window cleaner, and Armor All essentials.

I like to use the Armor All Disinfecting Wipes primarily around anything my hand use frequently. Mainly the steering wheel, radio, climate controls, blinkers, and window controls. This way I feel a little more comfortable that my car isn’t a complete petri dish from the weeks use of in and out of the car.

Both Jaden and Jaci’s favorite part about cleaning the car is the new car smell. They like taking turns spraying the interior fabric seats with Armor All Air Freshening Protestant. The New Car scent is fragrance of choice for them, they say “it is a new car every time we clean it”.

For me, I am like my Dad was before. I choose to detail the outside of the car with the Armor All Outlast Tire Glaze and Trim & Plastic Restorer. The simple spray Tire Glaze goes on glossy and stays shiny for weeks. Also the best part about the Armor All Outlast products, is that they protect for over 100 car washes. so that saves me time, money and my back.

You can pick up all your car care products like the ones below at your local Walmart Auto Center.

Hey Colby, you share the most important thing for a road trip. As a father & car owner, I also know the importance of car cleaning before trip. “Armor All® OutlastTM Tire Glaze” is new for me. I don’t use it before. Is it working better?

Although our relationship has been strained over the past 14 years, he was still my dad.

He instilled values in me that I have carried into adulthood and continue to pass down to my family.

He showed me how to care for and appreciate my wife in such a way that she knows I love her.

He taught me life lessons that I have been able to teach my own children.

I wish we could have had a more meaningful relationship so that he (and my mom) could have experienced my life, my family, with me, but I’m grateful for the time we had.

He’ll always be my dad and that seems like enough right now.
