Despicable Me 2

Return of the Minions

For the past few months, we have been watching and giggling over the upcoming Despicable Me 2 movie. The once-sinister-villain-gone-dad is making a comeback to the big screen. For us, everyone fell in love with the minions in the first Despicable Me. Kevin and his buddy, Dave, are hilarious in everything they do or say (if you can call their unique language talking). These guys have it all and are widely popular. With a games, fan pages, websites, and an Instagram feed, the return of the Minions is apparent… and they are unstoppable.

I am Gru

Now that we have clarified that the “Minion Nation” is one of the funniest things out there, let’s talk about Gru (Steve Carell). I have to say that Gru is probably my favorite character in Despicable Me 2. Why? Because Gru is a Dad that I can totally relate to. And it’s not because he was once a devious moon-stealing kind of guy. But, he has three daughters that he loves very much and is super protective over them… as he should be.

In Despicable Me 2, Gru shows his love for his family and would do whatever it takes to make them happy. Even if it is just dressing up as a fairy princess at his youngest daughter’s birthday party, he is there and present in their lives. Gru does it all… from reading goodnight stories to warding off stinky boys trying to get near Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), his oldest  daughter. Gru will go to no length to insure the safety and happiness of his little family. These is how I can relate. I have a wide spectrum of ages to cover like Gru does when it comes to his daughters. I want to make sure I am constantly loving on my girls (and my son), spending quality time with them as much as possible, and am not afraid to use my Freeze Ray gun when needed to stop the boys in their tracks.

I’ve partnered with @TxDOT to remind you that all distractions – whether texting, eating, grooming, having a conversation, etc. – can be dangerous. #ad   That is why my family and I are also taking the AT&T It Can Wait pledge at http://www.ItCanWait.com/ to never drive distracted. As I get older and wiser as a dad of 5, I realize parenting is mostly about preparation. That is why I am proud to partner with @TxDOT on educating my daughters about distracted driving.    As a young guy, I found myself preparing to be a dad, or at least a good dad. Now I find myself preparing my children to be good people and safe drivers on the road. Jaci and I have been going over distracted driving prevention tips and having a little fun with the new web-based AR game – Dart Those Distractions. It helps promote safe driving in a fun way.   Check out the link in my bio to play. #HeadsUpTexas #EndTheStreakTX #ad
