Despite the classy look of the Ford Maverick Lariat, this pickup is a workhorse that ranks right up there with the competition and at an attractive interior price point of around $24,000.
Best Parts of the Ford Maverick
What you get for that is seating for 5, a large truck bed, and a decent towing capacity. The Maverick is offered in 3 trim packages.
These include the XL, XLT, and Lariat. I want to focus on the Lariat because it is the ultimate in this truck’s lineup. Here is what this pickup has to offer.
Engine and Performance
The Maverick’s base powertrain is a hybrid model with a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine that is assisted by an electric motor.
This is a front-wheel-drive truck with a continuously variable automatic transmission. This truck has a little pep in its step when on the road.
Test drives show that the turbo engine can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds while the hybrid takes 7.7 seconds. This truck has a payload capacity of 1500 pounds and a towing capacity of up to 4000 pounds.
According to the EPA, the hybrid version of the Maverick can achieve 33 MPG city and 42 MPG highway. That’s not bad for a truck. The non-hybrid engine will get you 22 MPG city and 29 MPG highway. I am impressed with how the hybrid performs with regard to fuel economy.
Ford Maverick Lariat Interior
I will say the Ford Maverick Lariat interior is somewhat compact, yet it is comfortable and offers everything you need for a road trip. The front seats are captain-style buckets with adjustable lumbar support.
The steering wheel is adjustable and includes audio controls. The Lariat has additional upgrade features. The interior has plenty of storage cubbies, including full storage under the second-row seat.
The 4.5-foot wide bed is large enough to carry full sheets of plywood. An added benefit is the 110-volt electrical outlet right in the bed.
Like all the newer Ford trucks, the Maverick Lariat comes with a standard warranty package that includes:
- Limited warranty that covers 3 years or 36,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty that covers 5 years or 60,000 miles
- Hybrid component warranty that covers 8 years or 100,000 miles
The new Ford Maverick Lariat is the perfect truck for a dad who likes to travel with family and gear in tow. The interior cabin is perfectly adequate and comfortable for 5 people with lots of hidden storage.
The bed is sizable enough for all our gear and features an electrical outlet that is great for camping. This truck can also tow recreational toys or a camper.
