If you are in the market for a used pickup truck, there are many from which you can choose. It can be difficult to select one that you feel is best for your particular situation, though. Narrowing it down to a few options is typically a good way to start.
Northside Fleet has several models from which to choose, and if you live nearby, this should be your first stop. When you get there, you may want to look for one of these picks in particular.
The Toyota Tundra
If you go back a few years to the Toyota Tundra models that came out from about 2007-2013, you should find that they give you a lot for the money, assuming you can get one at a reasonable price point. These are the second generation of the Tundra, and there are many notable improvements over the first.
The 381-hp 5.7-L V-8 is something that many truck owners prize. You get plenty of power with these models, and nothing from Chevy, Ram, or Ford in this era quite measures up.
The Chevy Silverado 1500
The Chevy Silverado is another solid pick if you get one that was made from 2014-2018. These ones are great for towing, hauling, or any other kind of work you see fit to use one for.
You can get one in 2WD or 4WD. There are several different trim levels in which you can find them, many of them very attractive and comfortable. The eight-speed transmission is also considered to be an upgrade over the six-speed that you would see in ones from earlier than 2014.
The Ram 1500
If you like Ram, getting a 1500 model from the years 2009-2018 isn’t a bad move. That’s because of the much-vaunted Hemi engine.
The Hemi from this era is still considered to be the standard in this vehicle category. It’s powerful but refined, and you also get relatively decent fuel economy with the models in this range of years. If you anticipate doing some towing and need plenty of power alongside ample braking capabilities, this may be your best choice.
The Chevy Colorado
The Chevy Colorado that you can get from 2003-2012 also belongs on this list. You can find them in several configurations, including a crew cab long-bed and a standard-cab short-bed.
You can get them with different power configurations, including a turbocharged version and a naturally aspirated inline-five. There are also manual and automatic transmission options from which to choose.
The Nissan Frontier
The Nissan Frontier is another solid pick if you happen to find a used one that came out from 2005-2020. These trucks are both utilitarian and sporty. The crew cab layout easily seats five, even if you have larger individuals riding with you. The chassis is durable, though the interior is a bit spartan.
This is a truck that’s no frills, but delivers plenty in the towing and hauling departments. For both transportation and work, the Frontier steps up to the challenge nicely.
