As a father, it is important to inspire, support and encourage my kids to be whoever they want to even when adversity tries to get in the way. Luckily my girls have someone they can look to for guidance and support. They’re Mom. Like in I Kill Giants, my girls handle they’re giants one at a time.
I Kill Giants
The film features strong women and powerful female characters with an almost entirely female cast. The film also touches on the following themes: dealing with bullying, standing up for yourself, finding the strength within yourself, and imagination vs. reality.
From the acclaimed graphic novel comes an epic adventure about a world beyond imagination. Teen Barbara Thorson (Madison Wolfe, The Conjuring 2) is the only thing that stands between terrible giants and the destruction of her small town. But as she boldly confronts her fears in increasingly dangerous ways, her new school counselor (Zoe Saldana, Guardians of the Galaxy) leads her to question everything she’s always believed to be true. I Kill Giants is an intense, touching story about trust, courage and love from the producers that brought you Harry Potter.
Characters – I Kill Giants
With a largely female cast I bet you are wondering who is in the movie, here are a few of the characters from I Kill Giants.
- Barbara Thorson – Barbara Thorson is a young girl who attends Birch Elementary school in Long Island. She has an older brother and sister, she is a bit strange and geeky, and very intelligent. Despite her intelligence, she often gets in trouble at school and is often sent to the principals office. She is incredibly good at Dungeons & Dragons. Barbara appears to have an overactive imagination to others, and that combined with other factors lends to her being somewhat of an outcast. Barbara claims to be an expert on giants and at killing Giants. Her best friend is Sophia. Barbara also comes to befriend Mrs. Molles her high school psychologist.
- Sophia – Sophia is a fairly ordinary girl at Birch Elementary school. She is in the fifth grade and befriends fellow fifth-grader, Barbara Thorson after she moves next door to her. Although Barbara appears a little odd Sophia is quick to appreciate her and the two grow close. Despite differences in personalities, the two maintain a friendship. Sophia is friendly, tenacious, outward and outgoing. Sophia like Barbara also comes into conflict with school bully Taylor but both receive mature advice from school counselor Mrs. Molle.
- Mrs. Molle – Mrs. Molle is a school counselor and psychologist at Birch Elementary school in Long Island.
