How To Maintain Good Health

Maintaining good health can be achieved in a few small easy habits. Drastic lifestyle changes rarely lead you to lasting success. Practicing these simple habits can help you develop healthy habits to keep you looking and feeling your best.

Good Health

Exercise

Physical exercise is extremely important when it comes to maintaining good health. When you exercise, your brain produces endorphins to naturally reduce stress. These neurotransmitters travel throughout your body to help you feel your best. While exercising, your heart is able to pump blood rich in oxygen throughout your body and to your brain.

Exercise can even help improve memory and focus, similar to the best memory supplements. This is what keeps your organs working properly inside and your body in good shape outside. Find any way to stay active for at least twenty or thirty minutes each day. Set goals for yourself but keep a flexible routine to ensure success.

Diet

A good diet is essential to proper health and nutrition. If you are eating poorly, you will never be able to feel your best inside or outside. Artificial ingredients take a toll on your mind and body. Despite how good they might taste, junk foods don’t allow you to absorb the nutrients and vitamins necessary for proper nutrition. Eating a diet full of sugar and saturated fats has been linked to a higher risk of heart disease and other health issues like obesity, acne and cholesterol issues. Avoid intense or restrictive diets that make eating seem miserable.

Make small adjustments to your diet over time and be mindful of what you snack on. It is much harder to change everything you eat all at once. For example, start with changing one meal to a healthy meal, or substituting an ingredient you cook with to something more organic and healthy. Sometimes keeping a food journal can help you stay on track and reflect on your progress each day.

Sleep

A good night’s sleep is another crucial component to maintaining good health. Without a good night’s rest you will be feeling sluggish and tired throughout your day. When you sleep, your body can rest and digest the food you’ve eaten. A lack of sleep has been proven to impair cognitive ability and physical mobility functions. Sleep is when your brain gets to dream and wander into other patterns of thinking. Sometimes keeping a dream journal can be productive to your mental health.

Create a bed time routine so your mind and body has time to actually wind down before getting into bed and going to sleep. Studies have shown that looking at screens and lights from your phone or television before bed makes it harder to fall asleep and get a good night’s sleep. Keep your night time routine consistent.

It is important to remember health isn’t maintained with restrictive diets or difficult workout routines. While nutrition and exercise is important, your health is also effected by other life factors. If you want to achieve and maintain good health, make sure to follow these three lifestyle tips.

Staying healthy doesn’t have to feel like an extra effort when these habits become second nature.

I laid my dad to rest today. Although our relati I laid my dad to rest today.

Although our relationship has been strained over the past 14 years, he was still my dad.

He instilled values in me that I have carried into adulthood and continue to pass down to my family.

He showed me how to care for and appreciate my wife in such a way that she knows I love her.

He taught me life lessons that I have been able to teach my own children.

I wish we could have had a more meaningful relationship so that he (and my mom) could have experienced my life, my family, with me, but I’m grateful for the time we had.

He’ll always be my dad and that seems like enough right now.
