The first trailer for “The Jungle Book” has been released and re-imagines an old classic with an all star cast of talent, including Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, and Christopher Walken. Leading the cast is 11 year old newcomer Neel Sethi. Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), the new movie is based on Rudyard Kipling’s stories and the 1967 Disney movie.
Through quick glimpses of this new world, we start by viewing a serene landscape of rivers, forestry and a boy viewing it all with wonder. Over all of the clips, we hear a smooth voice, which could be friendly, or perhaps is not. All seems well, until a fierce tiger makes his presence known. Under cover of night, the boy leaves, but doesn’t remain alone.
The Jungle Book Trailer
Though at first his company seems to be friendly, there are other unseen forces that send the boy running through the jungle, over trees and through a field only to jump off a sharp cliff. We don’t see the outcome, but next see the boy face to face with a python, the owner of the mysterious voice.
The action gets more intense, with several quick images including a group of animals charging at another making a stand, the boy climbing sharp ledges on the back of a monkey, swinging over a forest engulfing fire and another where he narrowly escaping a grasp outside of a temple.
The film blends live action with CGI effects to reintroduce us to a familiar world with the newest technology. We explore the world with Mowgli in all its thrills, danger and beauty. While on this journey through the unknown, Mowgli is able to also discover more about himself.
“The Jungle Book” follows Mowgli (Neel Sethi), a man-cub who was raised by wolves. He must leave his home when Shere Khan (Idris Elba), a tiger who has scars from men, seeks to eliminate any threat to him, including Mowgli. Guided by panther and tough mentor Bagheera (Ben Kingsley) and the easy-going bear Baloo (Bill Murray), Mowgli finds a new path. Along the way, Mowgli meets other creatures who might not have the best intentions, including Kaa (Scarlett Johansson), and King Louie (Christopher Walken).
“The Jungle Book” will be released on April 15th, 2016, available in 3D and IMAX 3D.
