Perks to Owning a Minivan

Do you remember the original minivans that had the appearance of small, boxy school busses that wobbled on the highway in the slightest gust of wind? These were kind of scary to drive and they gave dad’s a reputation for being “uncool” for owning one.

Perks to Owning a Minivan

I remember when the first Toyota Sienna was unveiled. It was a revolutionary design in the minivan family of cars. Not only was it practical for families, it was also better looking than the classic minivans. Minivans have come a long way. Toyota continues to make a well-designed minivan for 2020. The new Sienna is attractive, solid, safe, practical, and has the features of a luxury SUV. Here are the perks to owning one.

Excellent Performance

The latest version of the Sienna comes standard with all-wheel drive (AWD). It is equipped with sophisticated sensors that transmit the correct amount of torque to the front and rear wheels for optimal traction in adverse road conditions.

The 3.5 liter, 6 valve direct-injection engine with 8 speed automatic transmission, rolls in at an impressive 296 horsepower. The Sienna has an optimized suspension system that enhances handling and lateral stability. And, electric power steering is designed to respond quickly and accurately.

Bold Exterior

This minivan stands out with its bold and modern exterior design. The front grille is subtly aggressive, especially in the SE edition with its sport grille. It has some Star Wars helmet elements that give it a distinctive appearance, if you can imagine that. Lower side rocker panels complete the sleek profile while adding structural support. 19 inch, 6 spoke, alloy wheels finish off the extreme exterior.

Maximum Comfort

The spacious interior of the Sienna has 3 rows of seats. The cockpit offers captain style bucket seats for the driver and one passenger. The second row also has bucket style seats. The split 3rd row offers plenty of space for extra passengers.

The extra wide and well-appointed dashboard is loaded with the car’s tech. The driver centered console includes a color display, shift controller, and climate control.

What minivan comes with leather trimmed seating.? The Sienna does. To top that off, there are dual moonroofs so that everyone has daylight and a view of the sky.

Smart Technology

The Sienna comes standard with a 7 inch touch-screen display and integrated Apple CarPlay. Wi-Fi Connect is powered by Verizon. There are 5 USB ports, enough for the whole family to charge their personal devices. The integrated back-up camera provides peace of mind when trying to park a larger vehicle.

Safety Features

With a car this large, air bags throughout are necessary. The Sienna has 8 strategically located standard air bags. The van is equipped with the Toyota Star Safety System that includes the most advanced sensors and monitors for quick response. The LATCH (Lower Anchor and Tethers for Children) system provides an added measure of safety for your kids.

Why a Minivan?

Gone are the days when minivans were something you hide in the garage. Today’s minivans are boldly designed and structurally sound for a steady drive. The interiors are more like a luxury SUV than an industrial utility vehicle.

The Toyota Sienna continues to lead the pack in cutting edge minivan design. The lineup is powerful, attractive, comfortable, tech savvy, and loaded with all the appropriate safety features for your family.

Although our relationship has been strained over the past 14 years, he was still my dad.

He instilled values in me that I have carried into adulthood and continue to pass down to my family.

He showed me how to care for and appreciate my wife in such a way that she knows I love her.

He taught me life lessons that I have been able to teach my own children.

I wish we could have had a more meaningful relationship so that he (and my mom) could have experienced my life, my family, with me, but I’m grateful for the time we had.

He’ll always be my dad and that seems like enough right now.
