### Kia’s latest eco-friendly hybrid, due to be released in the first quarter of 2017, and boasts an impressive 76.6 mrecord-settinging mark. The Kia Niro EX broke the [Guinness World Record®](http://www.kiamedia.com/us/en/media/pressreleases/11956/2017-kia-niro-sets-guinness-world-records-title-for-lowest-fuel-consumption-by-a-hybrid-vehicle) title for low fuel consumption when it was driven coast to coast, for more than 3,700 miles from Los Angeles to New York City. A total of 48.5 gallons of gas was consumed during the entire trip. That is equal to approximately 4 tank fill-ups.

## Low Fuel Consumption in the Kia Niro

The Niro family of Urban Crossover Hybrid Vehicles is made up of compact, yet roomy, utility style cars. There is plenty of interior space for a family of 5 with additional room in the rear cargo compartment for sports gear, luggage, or groceries. The new lineup includes the Niro FE, LX, EX, Touring, and Touring Launch. These are the customizable options that will be offered.

The car comes equipped with Apple CarPlay® [entertainment](https://daysofadomesticdad.com/category/entertainment/) technology, Android Auto™, AM/FM/MP3/SiriusXM audio system, and a Harmon Kardon® premium sound system. Operation of these systems is accessed by a standard LCD touch screen.

The efficiency of the Niro crossover is evident in the average 50 mpg combined gas/electric fuel consumption. The automatic transmission features a 6-speed dual clutch with Sport Mode for a more dynamic and efficient driving experience. This is a 1.6L, 4 cylinder engine with an AC synchronous permanent magnet motor.
