This seventh-generation Elantra is a compact sedan with a longer wheelbase, a wider stance, and a lower roofline. The 2021 Elantra gains 2.2-inches in overall length, 0.8-inch in its wheelbase, and the overall width is increased by 1-inch. The height has dropped by 0.8-inches, and the front cowl point was moved back approximately 2-inches. These minor changes dramatically change the shape of the car but don’t compromise the interior cabin space. This is a sensuous four-door coupe with innovative styling and engineering technology.
This car is the first-ever Elantra hybrid vehicle. According to Hyundai, it boasts of more than 50 MPG combined highway and city fuel economy. The permanent magnet electric motor is powered by a lithium-ion-polymer battery positioned under the rear seats. The 1.6-liter engine combined with the electric motor delivers 139 horsepower and up to 195 lb.-ft of torque.
The optional Digital Key allows the Elantra to be unlocked, started, and driven without a physical key using your smartphone or NFC card. Other technology includes two available 10.25-inch multimedia screens. Enhanced natural-language voice-recognition system with Speech-to-Meaning® and Deep Meaning Understanding™ technologies. And of course, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make connecting a breeze.
