Disclosure: I am a part of the #CapriSunCrew and have a paid position with Capri Sun. Regardless, all opinions and experiences are 100% my own.

What are you planning for your July 4th festivities? Does your family have certain traditions or looking to try something different this year? For the five plus years we have driven to a local airport to watch an air show and fireworks. This year we are doing the same.

 High Flying Planes and Fireworks

Camping out July 4th

We love packing up the ice chest with ice cold waters, Capri Sun Juice Drinks, and snacks in our pickup truck. We will either find a spot along the road, or across the street near some warehouse that have big shade trees and grass covering.

The kids have a blast. We would break out either some board or card games to play. Or even have fun just messing with their neon bracelets or necklaces. What do you do to keep your kids busy while waiting for fireworks on July 4th? I want to know.

Ideas to Chill Out with Family on July 4th

We might be pretty content with our July 4th traditions, but here a few ideas to do with your family this holiday.

  • Create a Fourth of July Wand – Try making this Fourth of July Wand. It’s a simple, colorful craft that will provide the festive aesthetics of fireworks and sparklers, while being 100 percent safe and non-intimidating for young children.

  • Make Drinks for Your Friends – Take a break from the heat and activities, and chill out over a Capri Sun Smoothie. Quick and easy to make.
  • Hold a Fourth of July Bike Parade – Gather the kids on your block and their bicycles. Provide red, white and blue balloons, streamers, glitter and construction paper and let them decorate their bikes, then stage a parade up and down the block.

  • Bake Red, White and Blue Treats – Try making a few Capri Sun Jello-O Jigglers in fun shapes like stars or flags. Ideal for an afternoon snack or a party treat, these treats will go fast, so be sure to make plenty.

The bike parade is something we are definitely thinking about, the girls would to decorate their bikes.

Whatever you have planned or end up doing, be sure to have fun and be safe! It is times like the July 4th to have fun with friends and family and make memories.

I’ve partnered with @TxDOT to remind you that all distractions – whether texting, eating, grooming, having a conversation, etc. – can be dangerous. #ad   That is why my family and I are also taking the AT&T It Can Wait pledge at http://www.ItCanWait.com/ to never drive distracted. As I get older and wiser as a dad of 5, I realize parenting is mostly about preparation. That is why I am proud to partner with @TxDOT on educating my daughters about distracted driving.    As a young guy, I found myself preparing to be a dad, or at least a good dad. Now I find myself preparing my children to be good people and safe drivers on the road. Jaci and I have been going over distracted driving prevention tips and having a little fun with the new web-based AR game – Dart Those Distractions. It helps promote safe driving in a fun way.   Check out the link in my bio to play. #HeadsUpTexas #EndTheStreakTX #ad
