I’ve found plenty of reasons why you should make juicing a part of your daily routine. Here are three of them:
1. It’s Good For You – The health benefits of juicing can sometimes be hyped up, but there is no doubt that getting more fresh fruits and veggies into your diet is beneficial to your health. Juicing allows you to up your intake of all the great foods we eat in limited amounts. The juices from these foods supply your body with high levels of phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals. Consuming them in the form of juice also allows your body to absorb them much easier, helping you get a greater nutritional benefit.
2. Eat More In Less Time – Ok, you’re actually drinking, but you would normally have to chew, chew, chew all those fresh fruits and veggies. That takes time! When you juice them, you’re left with a beverage that you can enjoy in just a few minutes.
3. Portability – If you’re a person on the go, carrying around your daily servings of a variety of vegetables and fruits is not very practical. Juice, however, can be stored in a sealed bottle and is a much more portable and convenient way to make sure you’re staying on track nutritionally.
What Are The Drawbacks Of Juicing?
While juicing has a plethora of benefits, it also has some drawbacks. Let’s look at three of them:
1. Calories Galore – Juices have quite a high amount of calories. Because the fiber gets removed when the pulp gets separated from the juice during the juicing process, you are left with a very high concentration of calories that is less likely to satisfy your appetite.
2. It Can Be Time Consuming – You can expect to spend a minimum of 15 minutes preparing, using and cleaning your juicer every time you use it. Even though consuming the juice is done very quickly, juicing itself can be a huge time commitment.
3. Expense – When you run your fruits and vegetables through your juicer, the fiber is removed. This process means you will need more fruit and vegetable ingredients to make enough juice fill a glass. People who juice large amounts on a regular basis will find themselves spending quite a bit of money on produce.
In my opinion, if you are looking for a way to add healthy, nutritional meals and snacks to your diet, juicing is a great way to go about it. I would not recommend replacing all your servings of fruits and vegetables with juicing a you do need dietary fiber.
