Johnsonville Sausage Bowl Stuffed Bell Peppers

You will need:

  • 10 Bell Peppers
  • Butter
  • 1/2 an onion
  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can of tomato sauce
  • minced garlic
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 pounds of Johnsonville sausage
  • 1 cup of bread crumbs

Directions

Step One: Start by cutting a triangle shape off one side of each bell pepper. Then remove the seeds and the ribs of each bell pepper.
Step Two: Boil a small pot of water. Once the water is boiling place the bell peppers in the pot. Cook in the pot for about 5 minutes. Then strain the bell peppers, and set aside for later.

Step Three: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step Four: Dice the onion, and sauté in a pan with about 2 tablespoons of butter. Sauté in the pan for about 2-4 minutes.
Step Five: Add in the crushed tomato, tomato sauce, and minced garlic. Let simmer for about ten minutes.
Step Six: Mix the eggs and grated parmesan cheese in a large bowl.

Step Seven: Then proceed to mix in the Johnsonville Sausage, bread crumbs, and about 1-2 cups of the sautéed mixture.
Step Eight: Use a sausage stuffer (or a piping bag) to fill each bell pepper. Place the bell peppers in a 13 by 9 glass dish pan. The pour what is left of the sautéed mixture over the stuffed bell peppers. Place the tops back on the bell peppers.
Step Nine: Cook in the preheated oven for about an hour.
