Let’s go fly a kite, Up to the highest height! Let’s go fly a kite and send it soaring, Up through the atmosphere, Up where the air is clear. Oh, let’s go fly a kite!

That is a song you could here in our house at any given time, especially during the spring. We are huge fans of the Disney classic Mary Poppins and all the fun adventures she takes. One thing that we as a family have taken away from Mary Poppins is our love for flying kites!

Give us a breezy day, sunny or not, and a open field and it is game on!

April is National Fly a Kite Month

Join our family as we spread our wings this Spring and fly a kite for fun. If you don’t have a kite, you can stop by your local Walmart, Target, or dollar store to pick one up. The idea is to get outdoors and spend time with your kids, and also get some fresh air. I know that for us it can be an afternoon adventure, were we find a spot to relax and enjoy each others company.

Twenty minutes of kite flying burns about 100 calories, so imagine how many you can burn kite flying for an entire afternoon. Meditating on the beauty of a colorful kite as it dances in the wind is bound to alleviate unhealthful stress. You can find an event in your area using this database. Pack a picnic, pack up the kids, and head out to a windy spot to enjoy some kite flying.

I hope you find the time to go, go fly a kite! Share your kite flying adventure with me, lets use #LetsGoFlyaKite this Spring.
