Express Yourself

Our youngest daughter is a special little girl for more than just one reason. She is, of course, our little girl… with a wonderful personality and playful attitude. But, something you may not know by just looking at her, she has a speech disorder. This disorder keeps her from expressing herself completely and easily. Even though she has improved immensely over the past year, she still has struggles. As parents, you begin to watch and learn what your children need and want to develop. Staci and I have always noticed that she plays well with toys she can easily hold in her hand. I do not know what it is about the small toys but they are always what she wants and uses in her playtime.

Disney FROZEN

Recently, Staci was able to take the young girls to see Disney FROZEN the movie. All four of them went on and on about the Disney Holiday Feature, in their own way. Therefore, we decided to treat them with a couple of FROZEN toys to commemorate the time with their mom.

We hopped in the car and set out to our local Walmart. In fact, the Walmart toy section just so happens to be one of our kids’ favorite places to go. We were able to find a great selection of Disney FROZEN toys as we walked the toy aisles. Once we rounded the corner near the huge Disney section, they were more than excited to stop and look at all of the toys. The girls were pretty overwhelmed and overjoyed by all of  the Disney toys and stuffed characters they discovered.

Disney FROZEN dolls

Our youngest wasted no time on picking out which Disney FROZEN toys she wanted. We grabbed one each of the Anna and Elsa toys, plus a plush talking Olaf, a small doll sleigh set, and finally the Disney FROZEN small doll story set. For the rest of our time at Walmart, you could hardly tell she was in the basket. She was too busy looking at the boxes and trying to figure out how to open them up so she could play.

Disney FROZEN #FROZENFUN

Surprisingly, she wanted the talking Olaf to first. Apparently he is her favorite character after seeing the movie and she adores his musical break during the film. But, after playing with Olaf for a while, she decided she was ready to move onto the small doll set. It was with this set that we really saw her begin to play and express herself more openly. The toys gave her the ability to have the characters talk to each other and we were able to catch a bit of it on camera. You have to understand how precious these times with her are since her communication with us is often very limited.

Having her be able to more openly communicate through the FROZEN toys is simply incredible, and encouraging, to us.

Disney FROZEN

Like I mentioned earlier, Staci and the girls were able to see an advance screening of Disney FROZEN last week. FROZEN actually releases in theaters on November 27th and is set to be a favorite this holiday season. With the combination of Olaf, Sven, Kristoff, and Anna, you will experience a wild roller coaster of excitement and laughter. Disney FROZEN is already one of my favorite movies of the year and hope it will be yours too.
